Courte biographie
Eugène Demolder (1862-1919) était un écrivain, juriste et critique d'art belge. Appartenant au mouvement symboliste, il fut actif dans les cercles littéraires de 'La Jeune Belgique' et de 'La Wallonie'. Ses romans, tels que 'Le Jardinier de la Pompadour' (1891) et 'La Route d'émeraude' (1899), sont poétiques, évocateurs et souvent inspirés par les anciens maîtres flamands (comme Jordaens). Il était un grand admirateur du XVIIe siècle et un défenseur des artistes symbolistes modernes.
