Fargue, Léon-Paul
Poète et essayiste français influent, un 'flâneur' dont l'œuvre jette un pont entre le Symbolisme et l'École de Paris.
Courte biographie
Léon-Paul Fargue (1876-1947) était un poète et prosateur français. Il débuta sa carrière dans les cercles du Symbolisme, ami de Jarry et Mallarmé. Figure centrale du monde littéraire parisien, c'était un 'flâneur' qui captait l'atmosphère de la ville dans sa poésie ('Poèmes', 1912) et sa prose ('Le Piéton de Paris'). Bien qu'n'ayant jamais formellement appartenu à un mouvement, il était très admiré des surréalistes (Breton le citait) et fut une figure clé de l'École de Paris, ami d'artistes comme Picasso et Braque.
Lien avec le monde du livre
Les textes poétiques et évocateurs de Fargue étaient très prisés pour les 'livres d'artiste'. Il a collaboré avec de nombreux artistes, dont André Beaudin et Marc Chagall. Un exemple célèbre est 'Poèmes' (1939), illustré d'eaux-fortes par Georges Braque, publié par Gallimard (N.R.F.).
