Ipoustéguy, Jean Robert est né le 26 décembre 1920 à Dun-sur-Meuse, France. Après la guerre, il a commencé comme peintre, mais s'est ensuite consacré à la sculpture. Son œuvre est caractérisée par une représentation brute et souvent fragmentaire de la figure humaine, reflétant l'angoisse existentielle de la période d'après-guerre.
