Patrick Waldberg est né le 4 août 1923 à Santa Monica, États-Unis. Il s'est installé à Paris et est devenu une figure éminente des cercles artistiques **Surréalistes** et modernes d'après-guerre. Il fut un ami personnel de nombreux Surréalistes et écrivit des **monographies et études** faisant autorité sur le mouvement et ses figures (telles que Max Ernst et Salvador Dalí).
