Short Biography
Fernando Arrabal, born in 1932 in Melilla (Spain), is a provocative and influential writer and artist. Fleeing Franco's Spain, he settled in Paris in 1955. There, he was heavily influenced by the avant-garde and joined the surrealist group surrounding André Breton. In 1962, along with Roland Topor and Alejandro Jodorowsky, he founded the 'Panic Movement'. This movement, deeply rooted in Surrealism and Artaud's Theatre of Cruelty, combines art with performance, chaos, and provocation, reacting against the limitations they felt within 'official' Surrealism.

Arrabal's work has often been published in bibliophile editions, illustrated by artist friends from the Surrealist and Panic circles, including Dalí and Topor. His own graphic work, often in the form of drawings and etchings, is a direct visual translation of the raw, dreamlike, and absurd themes found in his literary and theatrical work.
