A remarkable copy of *Ariane*, published in the *Les Cahiers Nouveaux* series, inscribed with a poetic and enigmatic message by Ribemont-Dessaignes to Jacques Matarasso. This deluxe Japan paper edition was elegantly rebound in 1994 by Georges Leroux, in a restrained style that echoes the work’s Dadaist spirit.

*Arrière-histoire du poème pulvérisé* is a later illustrated edition of a key text in which René Char looks back on the genesis and inner background of *Le Poème pulvérisé*. Published in 1972 by Imprimerie Union, it opens with a colour frontispiece by Nicolas de Staël. The pairing of Char and de Staël is especially charged: two post-war voices, each seeking concentration, clarity, and rupture in his own medium. Published on 15 October 1930 by the Éditions surréalistes in Paris, the booklet feels less like a conventional collection than an intimate printed message. Published by the Éditions surréalistes in 1930, *À toute épreuve* is an exceptionally concise yet important publication from Paul Éluard’s central Surrealist period. This palm-sized booklet gathers thirteen poems in which love, jealousy, loss, desire and physical presence are compressed into highly concentrated poetic language. It emerged during an emotionally turbulent phase of Éluard’s life, shortly after the crisis and eventual breakdown of his marriage to Gala. The material simplicity of the publication stands in striking contrast to the intensity of its contents: eight leaves, without illustrations, issued in an almost ephemeral form. Several of the poems had already appeared in periodicals closely associated with Surrealism. The present copy is printed on Lafuma Navarre paper, giving it additional material distinction. Julien Gracq’s debut novel, issued by José Corti, sets a gothic castle on the Breton coast as the stage for a charged, almost dream-logic encounter between three figures. The prose is musical and image-rich, favouring symbolic landscapes and metaphysical weather. Born near Surrealism yet distinctly independent, the book establishes Gracq’s lucid enchantment from the start. Au rendez-vous allemand is one of the emblematic collections of Éluard’s wartime poetry. The book appeared in 1944 from Les Éditions de Minuit, the publishing house that, under the Occupation, became a moral landmark of the French literary Resistance. The volume gathers poems in which love, mourning, revolt and hope appear not as abstractions but as immediate necessities under German rule.
