THE HIDDEN PAGE — TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SALE
Version: 02/03/2026 — applicable to online purchases made via thehiddenpage.[tld]
1. Scope and identification of the seller
These Terms and Conditions of Sale (the “TCS”) govern any purchase of products offered on The Hidden Page website (the “Website”) by a customer (the “Customer”).
The Website is operated by:
• Legal name: Corpat bv (Belgian company)• Registered office: Oude Molenstraat 3, 8550 Zwevegem, Belgium• Company number (BCE/KBO): 1030.477.223• VAT number: BE1030.477.223• Contact: info@thehiddenpage.fr
If you are purchasing as a consumer resident in the European Economic Area (“EEA”), mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence may apply in addition to these TCS.
2. Products, descriptions, and availability
The Hidden Page specialises in rare books, illustrated editions, prints, ephemera, and related collectibles. Each item is unique unless explicitly stated otherwise.
Product descriptions and photographs are provided with due care. Photographs are intended to complement the written description. Minor variations (e.g., paper tone, patina, or signs of age consistent with the description) are inherent to vintage/rare items.
All offers are subject to availability. As items may also be sold through other channels (e.g., private sale, fairs, third‑party marketplaces), stock updates may not be instantaneous. If an item is unavailable after ordering, the order will be cancelled and refunded.
3. Prices, VAT, and taxes
All prices are displayed in euros (€). Unless stated otherwise at checkout, prices include applicable taxes.
Margin scheme / VAT: For eligible second‑hand goods, works of art, collectors’ items and antiques, The Hidden Page may apply the VAT margin scheme under EU VAT rules. In such cases, VAT is included in the price but is not shown separately and is not deductible by the Customer.
Shipping, insurance (if applicable), and any optional services are added at checkout.
For deliveries outside the EU, import duties and local taxes may be charged by the destination country and are borne by the Customer (unless explicitly stated otherwise).
4. Orders and contract formation
Placing an order on the Website constitutes an offer to purchase. The contract is formed when The Hidden Page sends an order confirmation email (or otherwise confirms acceptance).
The Hidden Page may refuse or cancel an order for legitimate reasons (including suspected fraud, payment failure, obvious pricing/technical errors, or inability to ship to the destination). If payment has already been captured, a refund will be issued.
5. Payment
Payment must be made in euros (€) using the payment methods offered at checkout. Payment is processed through secure payment providers.
Title to the goods remains with The Hidden Page until full payment has been received. Risk of loss passes to the Customer upon delivery to the Customer (or the Customer’s designated recipient), without prejudice to mandatory consumer rules.
6. Delivery, shipping, and collection
Delivery options, estimated timelines, and shipping costs are displayed at checkout. Delivery times are estimates and may be affected by factors outside The Hidden Page’s control (e.g., customs processing, carrier delays).
The Hidden Page ships with reputable carriers and will package items with professional care appropriate to rare and fragile goods.
If local pick‑up is offered, the Customer must collect within the timeframe communicated. Identification and order confirmation may be required.
7. Right of withdrawal (consumers in the EEA)
If you are a consumer in the EEA and you purchase at a distance, you generally have the right to withdraw from the purchase within 14 calendar days from the day you (or a third party indicated by you) receive the goods, without giving any reason.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, you must notify The Hidden Page of your decision in a clear statement (e.g., email). You may use the EU model withdrawal form, but it is not mandatory.
Return of goods: you must send back the goods no later than 14 days after you notified withdrawal. Unless we agree otherwise, you bear the direct cost of returning the goods.
Condition of returned goods: you may handle the goods to the extent necessary to establish their nature, characteristics and functioning. You are liable for any diminished value resulting from handling beyond what is necessary. For rare/collectible goods, this includes (without limitation) damage to dust‑jackets, boards, spines, plates, inserts, original wrappers, provenance marks, or any accompanying documentation.
Exceptions: the right of withdrawal may not apply in certain cases provided by law (e.g., goods made to the consumer’s specifications). If an exception applies, it will be indicated before purchase where relevant.
8. Returns and refunds
Upon valid withdrawal, The Hidden Page will refund the purchase price and standard outbound shipping costs (if applicable under mandatory rules) within 14 days from the day we are informed of your decision to withdraw, using the same means of payment unless otherwise agreed.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is earliest.
If the returned item is not in the condition required above, we may apply a proportional deduction reflecting diminished value.
9. Conformity and legal guarantee (Belgium / EEA consumers)
Consumers benefit from statutory rights regarding conformity of goods. In Belgium, a legal guarantee generally applies for defects of conformity identified within two years from delivery; for second‑hand goods, the guarantee period may be reduced to a minimum of one year if clearly agreed at the time of purchase.
Because the goods offered are often vintage or rare, certain age‑related characteristics (e.g., light foxing, minor rubbing, natural paper toning) are not defects if disclosed in the description or consistent with the item’s age and nature.
If you believe an item is non‑conforming, you must contact The Hidden Page without undue delay and provide relevant information (order number, description of the issue, photos).
10. Authenticity and description accuracy
The Hidden Page guarantees that items are original and that material elements stated in the description (edition statement, author, publisher, date, illustrator/artist attribution where indicated, and major defects/disclosures) are provided in good faith based on professional bibliographic practice.
If a material element of authenticity or description is demonstrably incorrect, The Hidden Page’s primary obligation is to refund the purchase price upon return of the item. Any additional remedies are limited to what is required by mandatory law.
Opinions and attributions (e.g., “attributed to”, “probably”, “circa”) reflect the state of scholarship and the information available at the time of sale.
11. Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, The Hidden Page is not liable for indirect or consequential losses (including loss of profit or loss of chance). Nothing in these TCS limits liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under mandatory law.
12. Personal data and privacy
Personal data are processed in accordance with The Hidden Page Privacy Policy, available on the Website.
13. Complaints and dispute resolution
Complaints can be submitted to [support email]. We aim to respond within a reasonable time.
Consumer ADR/ODR: The EU Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform was discontinued as of 20 July 2025. Consumers may consult the European Commission’s consumer redress pages for guidance on out‑of‑court dispute resolution options, and may also contact the European Consumer Centre (ECC) network where applicable.
14. Governing law and jurisdiction
These TCS are governed by Belgian law, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection provisions applicable in the Customer’s country of residence within the EEA.
Any dispute shall fall under the jurisdiction of the competent courts of [judicial district / city of registered office], unless mandatory law provides otherwise for consumers.
15. Amendments
The Hidden Page may update these TCS from time to time. The version in force at the time of ordering applies to that order.
