Short Biography
André Dunoyer de Segonzac (1884-1974) was a French painter and printmaker. Although a contemporary of Cubism, he developed an independent, figurative style. His work, which includes landscapes, still lifes, and portraits, is characterized by a heavy impasto and an earthy palette. He is associated with the 'École de Paris' but always maintained a classicist and realistic bent. He was renowned for his technical mastery as an etcher.

Dunoyer de Segonzac was one of the most celebrated 'livre d'artiste' illustrators of his time. His masterpiece is the illustration of 'The Georgics' (Virgil), which he worked on for decades.
