Bruyer, Georges

Short Biography
Bruyer, Georges was born on December 17, 1877, in Rochefort, France. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and developed a painting style that lay between Impressionism and the more structured forms of Post-Impressionism, sometimes incorporating the bright colours of Fauvism. Although not a central figure in the revolutionary avant-garde, he represents the School of Paris and the continuation of modernism in the first half of the 20th century. His work is representative of the more moderate currents of French modern art.
