Visat, Georges

Visat, Georges was born on September 24, 1910, in Sète, France. He established himself as one of the most highly regarded engravers and printers of his time, specializing in etching and aquatint. His studio in Paris became a meeting place for avant-garde artists, especially the Surrealists. His technical skill was essential for the realization of the illustrated books and graphic editions of artists such as Max Ernst and Man Ray, making him an indispensable link in post-war Surrealist production.

As a master engraver and publisher, Visat played a key role in the world of illustrated books through the production of original prints. He collaborated with leading Surrealist and modern artists on over a hundred 'livres d'artiste'.
