Short Biography
Bosschère, Jean de was born on July 5, 1878, in Uccle, Belgium. He was a versatile figure, active as a writer and graphic artist. His work, characterized by grotesque and erotic fantasy, is often associated with Symbolism and Fantastic Art. Although active before the height of Surrealism, his themes and unconventional style align with the later avant-garde. He emigrated to London and then to France.

Bosschère was a prolific illustrator of his own books and those of others, using techniques such as etching and pen and ink. His illustrations for 'Les Dix Livres de Fanny' (1920) are notorious.
