Short Biography
Laboureur, Jean-Émile was born on August 5, 1877, in Nantes, France. He studied in Paris and was a prolific painter and graphic artist. Although he embraced Cubism, he developed a more decorative and refined style, especially in his engravings (drypoint), which retained the geometric simplification of the avant-garde. His work is representative of the more moderate, yet stylistically conscious, School of Paris. He was a major figure in the renewal of modern illustration and printmaking.

He collaborated with literary publishers and poets, using his drypoint technique to illustrate texts by authors like Giraudoux.
