LANSKOY (André)
A Russian-born French painter, one of the main representatives of post-war Lyrical Abstraction.
Short Biography
Lanskoy, André was born on March 31, 1902, in Moscow, Russia. He fled to Paris in 1921. After a figurative period in the School of Paris, he evolved towards Abstract Art after World War II. He became a pioneer of Lyrical Abstraction (or Art Informel), characterized by a dynamic, spontaneous, and colorful abstraction. His work played a crucial role in the recognition of abstract art in post-war Europe.

Lanskoy was an active printmaker and worked extensively with lithography, translating the expressive and colorful characteristics of his paintings to the flat surface.
