Luca, Gherasim was born on July 23, 1913, in Bucharest, Romania. He was a key figure in Romanian Surrealism. After World War II, he moved to Paris and continued his radical experiments with language. His poetry and theoretical writings, characterized by extreme formality and a focus on the role of the body and language, make him one of the most influential figures of the post-war Surrealist avant-garde.
